Avalon Rathgeb graduated from Bird college in 2009 after studying on a 3 year full time scholarship. Since graduating she has received two internships from the American Tap Dance Foundation 2009/11, a scholarship for the Los Angeles Tap festival 2012, was the winner of the 2013 cutting contest at Stockholm Tap Festival, and was invited to accept one of the 25 places reserved for outstanding dancers in the 2014 Tap programme at the School at Jacob’s Pillow in Massachusetts, USA. She was a company member of Grant Swift’s TeAyPe in Melbourne, Australia, she has also danced in the leading Tap Dance companies in the UK including Grounded, Juggling On Tap and The Pulse Collective. Avalon created her own company: Old Kent Road which were invited to showcase their work ‘Fall Out’ at Resolution! 2015. Old Kent Road were awarded Arts Council England/ National Lottery funding and premiered their first 50 minute show at the Blue Elephant Theatre which brought together the UK's finest professional tap dancers, alongside jazz musicians. 

Her career highlights include performing in the opening ceremony of the London 2012 Olympics as a tap dancing dementor; being asked to join Tapestry Dance Company, North America’s only full time and paid Tap dance company; the 1st International Chinese film awards with Ryan Campbell- Birch at Westminster Grand Hall, London, being featured in the documentary Tapworld, performing with Michelle Dorrance and the Michele Drees trio at Nolais11; and in the closing ceremony for the 1st European games in Baku, Azerbaijan. Avalon regularly teaches for international tap festivals and workshops including the Stockholm Tap festival, Prague City Tap festival, Australian Tap festival, Escola Luthier Dansa and MadTap- Madrid, Tanzhaus- Dusseldorf, Tip-Tap- Poland, Zig-Zag Studios in Prague, and Dubrovnik Tap Festival- Croatia and Taptastic in Germany. Here in London Avalon teaches at Bird College, Pineapple Dance Studios and South London Dance Studios. She has adjudicated at MCR International Competition - Brno, Czech Republic, Imperial Society for Teachers of Dance (I.S.T.D.) - Star Tap Awards and Universities of UK Dance Competition at UCL.

Avalon's next adventures take her to Dubrovnik Tap Festival 2016, Brighton Tap Festival 2016 and Taptastic 2017.
